What Makes A Network Marketer Successful?

When I first started in network marketing I was "in awe" of the people who had the huge houses and fancy cars.  I thought "Now that person has been successful."  My concept of being successful has changed.  You don't have to have the huge house, fancy cars, or even being making $10,000/month to be successful.  I have learned that a person's small achievements can make them successful.  Here's a small list of my recent achievements that make me successful:

- own blog
- own website
- 3-7 leads consistently on a daily basis
- Team Player of the Month (April)
list is growing
- comfortable talking to people on the phone
- network marketers are calling me
People are asking me for my advice

These are little things that I have accomplished, most within the last 2 months.  A year and a half ago I thought I'll be successful when I'm making $10,000/month.  That is no longer true.  I have achieved these short term goals and I am now a success!  A small success that is only going to get bigger. So if you're struggling in network marketing and think "I'm NEVER going to be a success"; look at your small achievements.  I was once asked "How do you eat an elephant"?  One bite at a time.  Achieve little things and you WILL become successful in this industry.

I have found a tool on the Internet that has helped me achieve much of the list above.  With this tool I can earn an income from it along side my Primary Business of Vitamark International.  For more information on the tool I have used to achieve my short term goals please visit http://www.workwithmargaretwilson.com.

Discourgement- Something EVERY Network Marketer Has Or Will Experience

This is one reason many network marketers fail or quit.  Being discouraged in this industry comes in many forms. I have listed a few here.
-Family-"You need to get a job, support you're family." In my personal situation I have three children, if I were to get a job, I would simply be paying for daycare and gas, not exactly contributing to the household income.

-Society- "Those online line business just want your money, they don't want to help you make money." Believe it or not, there are people that think that way.

-Lifestyle Change- When you are building your online business you have to put into it what you want out of it.  In other words, you may have several nights where you are up late and may only get a few hours of sleep.  Again, in my situation, I often work until 1am simply because that's when my house is the quietest and I can focus.  Then I am up at 5:30am to check my emails and take care of anything important before the day actually begins.

-Slow Results- This is a huge one.  I think sometimes when a person first looks into network marketing they see all the "Gurus and Heavy Hitters" with their million dollar cars and huge houses and they think it happened for them overnight.  Well, I'm here to tell you it didn't.  They too had to increase their value and build relationships.

-"I'm Not Getting Any Leads/My List Isn't Growing"- When network marketers start to think thisway, they've already signed their resignation.  Nothing happens fast in network marketing.

So how do you deal with all of this?  It's in your mindset, persistence, and determination.  In your mind you have to "know" not convince yourself that this is what you want to do.  Your reason for doing it (your "why") has to be big enough to overcome ALL objections and obstacles.  I recently had a family member say to me "all you do is sit and that computer, you haven't made anything."  And I replied with "and that's what I'm going to continue to do, because I know what I'm doing will change our life."  The person said nothing more.

You have to be persistent and have a daily plan of action. This should consist of a list of things to do daily that are income producing.  You need to call at MINIMUM 20 people a day, post AT LEAST one piece of value on every social networking website that you belong to, respond to every personal message and email, and take 30 minutes a day for personal development.  This is a huge secret of mine I just let out!  This is my MINIMUM daily plan of action.

If you are determined to make it happen...it will.  You can't tell yourself "I'll try this."  You have to say aloud "I'm going to do whatever it takes to succeed in Network Marketing."

The last way I would like to mention on how to handle frustrations and discouragement in Network Marketing is find a good support system.  In MLSP I have found an excellent support system.  Not only does it offer a college degree level of training, but the other members are always available to give advice, offer solutions, or just be a friend.  I highly recommend checking out MyLeadSystemPro by clicking on the letters above (MLSP), not just for a great system, but a place to find awesome network marketing friends.

How And Why To Follow Up With A Phone Call

If you have been in network marketing for any amount of time you have heard the phrase "my telephone weighs 1000 lbs."  I am here to explain how to help your phone "lose weight."  But first we need to focus on why it is so important to follow up with every lead or network marketing contact by telephone.  In network marketing today we are exposed to so many other network marketers.  Some are looking for a new business opportunity, needing leads, needing customers, or simply wanting to connect with fellow network marketers to share ideas and tips for growing their business.  When you received notification, usually by email, that you have a new lead the only information you get is their name, email, phone # (hopefully), and other various facts as to where they went on your website and how they found it.  How are you really going to find out what that person was interested in when they opted in on your website?  Chat on Facebook?  Sure that's OK, but you can't hear their voice there.  When you actually listen to what a person is saying you can tell whether they are sincere, distracted, bored, excited, happy, or irritated.  Another way you can find out what the person was interested in is send them an email.  It is a good idea to connect by email after receiving a lead, but not to find out their interest.  In the email state something to the fact of "Thank you for visiting my website I look forward to speaking with you soon."  The body of the email should contain enticing information about the product or opportunity you have to offer.

The reason you want to call someone is not to "pitch" your opportunity or product.  When you call a lead for your business think of it as a job application.  You are calling to interview them, but they don't know that.  You want to find out the following:

-network marketing experience
-what they like about what they do
-what they don't like about what they do
-why they chose network marketing
-how much money they want to make

So now you're wondering how do I do this without sounding desperate.  If you call and just start "pitching" what you have to offer, that sounds desperate.  When I call someone I want to be the one asking the questions that keeps me in control of the conversation.  I usually start out with something like this:

"Hi is ____ in please?  Hi ____ this is Margaret Wilson calling. You recently visited my website regarding making money from home.  Is this something you're still interested in."

Then I wrote my own questions regarding the information I want to find out about the person.  Not only do I call my leads, I also make phone contact with many of my friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In.  Why?  Because they might be looking for a new opportunity and just haven't found my website yet.  The more you pick up your phone the more weight it will loose!
